When I arrived at the Perth wedding reception of Sunday’s Macedonian-Australian-Hungarian wedding, the father of the groom proudly described his family as the “united nations of marriages”. He being Australian had married a Hungarian woman, they’d had a son and a daughter, their daughter married a Jewish boy and their son married a Macedonian girl. With such a bend of cultures it sounds like a true Aussie family!
Christina and Nathan had paid attention to detail and it seemed to be a family trait. When we arrived at Christina’s sister’s home where the bride and bridesmaids were getting ready, Christina’s sister Dafny had every thing in hand. Being a visual merchandiser she had gorgeous still life arrangements through out her light, modern home. There were white rose buds in little bottles, tiny cupcakes (looking almost too good to eat) the jewellery was stylishly arranged and a mannequin wearing the bridal gown, not to forget paper angles on the balustrade and tea lights through out the home. Christina’s sister in law, (also) Kristina had the make up for the bridal party in hand and Artistic Visions styled the party’s hair. Bouquets from Wed on Beaufort Street had arrived and looked fabulous. Christina’s dress (from Tuscany Bridal) was amazing, the style complimenting her slight frame perfectly. It all came together beautifully to enable us to shoot some stunning bridal photographs. Wendy from Tellygram Videos was in raptures with the wonderful footage she was videoing. Charlie from Mirage Limousines was particularly helpful and just great to have around through out the day.
The ceremony was at the Macedonian Orthodox Church in North Perth, an ornate church with warm light, wall murals and chandeliers. The ceremony includes the grooms “godfather”, in this case Christina’s brother, being involved in the exchanging of the rings for the bride and groom. The ceremony was relaxed and friendly and Christina and Nathan were congratulated by their family and friends at the alter before making there way outside to be showered in rice and chocolates.
After the ceremony and family photographs we headed to the Perth streets for the wedding photographic shoot. Christina and Nathan had planned their time well and were able to stop off at a cafe for a breather with their bridal party before arriving at the wonderful Acqua Viva in Nedlands. They arrived just as the sun was setting and again there were wonderful photographic opportunities on the jetty overlooking the boats and the river to the stormy clouds in the distance. The room was simply and stylishly decorated with simple potted white orchids on the tables. The wedding cake was made by Emanuel from the Choux Cafe, – it looked magnificent and I believe it tasted pretty good too!
