A Chinese wedding is a whole day celebration, which from a professional photographers point of view means lots of opportunity for wonderful wedding photographs telling the wedding story. In September we were lucky enough to be chosen by Linda and Chun to photograph their wedding day and all the traditional Chinese celebrations that involves.
The tradition is for the groom to “earn his right to the bride” by bringing gifts to the bride and her family. These days the bridesmaid’s “set challenges” for the groom and this can vary from eating wasabi sandwiches to singing a “courting song” to his bride to be. If the groom has chosen his groomsmen well, they will offer to take on some of the challenges. All in good spirits! Once the groom is granted his bride the traditional tea ceremony takes place with younger generations serving tea to the elders and the elders intern passing on words of wisdom and of course the special “little red packages”. Of course all these celebrations make for wonderful wedding photographs, – and keeps us on our toes!
Once the traditional Chinese ceremonies were over Linda and Chun celebrated their wedding ceremony at the South of Perth Yacht Club, with a view to the city as their backdrop. A fabulous Chinese banquet was served to Chun and Linda’s family and friends at the Burswood Ballroom.
Below is just a taste of the professional wedding photographs taken on Linda and Chun’s wedding day. If you know Linda and Chun you can view a more extensive selection of their wedding photographs at: http://peteredwardsphoto.com.au/linda-and-chun-26th-september-2010.
