Voyager Estate in Margaret River was the location for the October wedding of Kathryn and Martin. It’s always a fabulous experience to photograph weddings in Margaret River, such a wonderful variety of locations with out too much traveling. The guests always seem to be in holiday mood when they travel to the south west for a wedding, – I guess taking a few days extra off work to make the occasion a holiday. In fact the whole event tends become a “wedding festival” with guests arriving on different days in the lead up to the wedding, of course often the guest are traveling from interstate and overseas. All this makes for a festive atmosphere with the meeting up of friends and relatives and the sharing of wonderful local food and wines.
Kathryn and her family stayed at the wonderful Basildene Manor in Margaret River. The rooms are spacious, just right for a group women getting ready for a wedding and the manor itself and the grounds are a make a great backdrop for professional photographs.
Driving to Voyager Estate and during the ceremony they were blessed with blue skies and sunshine. We went for a sort trip to the beach and on the way back drops of rain were appearing on the windscreen. Fortunately we always come armed with a stash black and white umbrellas, – just incase! With not too much outdoor protection from the rain we dodged in and out of the the showers. The bridal party were real troupers and with stood the damp conditions really well. Closer to sunset the skies cleared and a magnificent sunset appeared,who would have imagined they would have been blessed with such wonderful conditions close to sunset. We made the most of this time and got wonderful shots of Kathryn and Martin in those magic tones that are only around for such a short time before and after the sun hits the horizon.
The dining room at Voyager Estate was magnificent, exquisit furniture and the room was decorated with an abundance of flowers. Once again Peter and I were privledged to be involved with wonderful people on such a special and significant occasion.
