Perth Wedding Takes on a Country Feel

wedding photography perthIt was important to Keryn and Adrian that their wedding day in Perth had a relaxed, fun atmosphere, a feeling of a great get together with family and friends. Having a property in Gidgegannup also had some influence on the feel of Keryn and Adrian’s wedding, (as you will see from their wedding photos below) giving it a bit of a country feel. They also took a very practical view to arrangements, “if it wasn’t going to make any difference to their married life together in the future, then it wasn’t worth getting in a tizz about”.

Saturday 22nd October started off warm and sunny, with the threat of showers! Thankfully we were with Keryn, a bride with a practical view even when it came to her wedding day. So the threat of showers in no way dampened her spirit. As is often the case with brides we photograph, Keryn was well organised, the bouquets (by Michelle Hendy from Red Poppy) had arrived and her hair and makeup was completed when we knocked at her door. Her make up was done by Emma O’Donnell and her hair was styled by Jade’s Hair Styling. The bridesmaids soon had Keryn in her bridal gown (by Gown Gallery with alterations and Swarkovski brooch added by Tadorka) and we we able to capture some wonderful portaits of her, the girls and Keryn’s parents. Fortunately her sister arrived home after sitting an exam, just in time to be dressed and made up before having some photographs taken and heading to the Santa Maria Chapel for the wedding ceremony.

The ceremony was a family affair with the the parents of Keryn and Adrian taking roles during the ceremony. Even the groomsman was at one time unexpectedly called up to the alter to play a part in the homily. After family photographs, Keryn being a Santa girl was keen to have a few photographs taken around the school facade with her bridesmaids. After a slow get-away (the RAC had to be called to one of the Bridal Cars) we headed off to the Water Shed Winery in Guildford.

Just as we arrived at the winery rain drops started to fall. Thankfully the old shed at Water Shed Winery, that is the entrance to the cellar tasting room, provided some shelter. The bridal party put on brave faces and Peter and I worked quickly to avoid keeping everyone in the damp. The old shed made a great backdrop, giving the wedding photographs a country feel. As the rain got progressively heavier and the skies darkened we headed to the cellar, food and drinks were waiting for the bridal party. We even got some great shots down in the cellar.

The reception room had touches of “country”. Keryn’s dad had made a rustic wishing well in which guest could deposit their gifts and the wedding cake (made by Sarah – Takes The Cake) was a work of art modeled on Keryn and Adrian’s farm house. Keryn and Adrian celebrated with family and friends during the evening.

And who says you can’t get great photographs in the rain?
