Wedding Jewellery – Sometimes Less is More

wedding photography perthThe wedding day is filled with an abundance of things to think about and plan for. For the bride, the way you look is often the most important thing to you. You want to be able to look back at your wedding photos without embarrassment. Jewellery is an important aspect of the day. Sometimes less is more and you should always look at the jewelry and the bridal gown and determine whether or not they do, in fact, match. A second opinion from your most honest and stylish friend could be a godsend.

Family Heirlooms

Maybe you’ve dreamt of wearing Grandma’s pearls on your wedding day since you were a little girl. Or perhaps you’ve been given a something old or something borrowed to wear but you’re not quite sure if you want to wear it.

Not every family heirloom is going to be suitable. Some jewels are timeless pieces but they may or may not go well with your dress. If you’re concerned that Grandma’s pearls don’t go with your dress but you don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings, perhaps you’ll want to wear them at your rehearsal dinner or have separate wedding pictures taken of you and your groom where you’re wearing them. If the pearls or Mother’s diamond earrings or some other accessory is of vital importance to you, maybe you’ll buy a dress to match that piece or use it as a staring point for your wedding day theme.

Special Jewellery? Simple Jewels? None?

For some brides, simple is best. This could be either because it suits her or because it matches the dress and the wedding theme. Other occasions require something a bit more customised. Wedding jewels can be designed to suit the dress and designed to fit the theme of the occasion. Consider talking to a stylist or maybe even a jewel designer for an opinion from someone with an expert eye. Many bridal gown designers will also design jewellery to go with your gown.

Wedding Party Accessories

Traditional weddings tend to have all bridal attendants similarly dressed and accessorised. If you’re having a destination wedding, you may opt for something less formal. Today, there are no hard and fast rules about this but you should at least consider it. Do you have a friend who may wear something garish, for example? Consider what you want and make your feelings known to bridesmaids and ushers. Perhaps you should tell them how you want them to accessorise. Or, some couples gift jewelry to their attendants to say “Thank You” for being a part of the wedding. This is a good opportunity to have everyone wear the same accessories and look awesome in the wedding photos.

Jewelry really can make or break an outfit and can help optimise photographs. Take the time to choose the right wedding jewelry and you will look back at your wedding photos with pride about how you presented yourself on your special day.
