Winter Wedding In Perth – Fabulous For Photography

wedding photographer perthJain and Peter were married in the Trinity College Chapel on a very crisp Perth winter morning. Like many couples of Asian background Jain and Peter chose to make their wedding an all day celebration, with their ceremony starting at 10.30am and their reception starting at 6.30pm. Although this seems like a long day when you consider Jain and her bridesmaid would have been up before dawn to meet with the makeup artist and hairdresser, it does allow the couple to pace themselves during the day. If they’re lucky they might even get to put their feet up for a short time before the reception starts!

Peter and Jain were joined by friends and relatives from the Philippines, Thailand, Taiwan, New Zealand and the east coast of Australia. Jain had her dress custom made in Thailand. Their friends and relatives brought contributions for the day from the various countries. The bouquet came from Thailand, the alter cloth and chapel decorations from the Philippines.

After photographs with friends and family in the chapel grounds, Jain and Peter and their bridal party of two headed to the streets of Perth for some fabulous wedding photographs. We then headed back to Peter’s family home for the traditional Chinese Tea Ceremony. In my opinion this is definitely a tradition worth honouring and passing onto the younger generations. It is a time where the young couple show honour and respect to their elder relatives, predominately  grandparents, parents, uncles and aunts by serving them tea. In exchange the elders offer words of wisdom and good wishes for the married years ahead. The elders also pass to the young couple gifts including gold jewellery and the traditional little red envelopes.

Just before sunset we met with Peter and Jain with the aim of capturing a few more unique wedding photographs in the beautiful light at dusk. Luck was with them as the sky had just the right amount of cloud to add interest and the sunset colours were just magnificent!

After the sun had set they headed back to the warmth of their family and friends waiting for them at the Han Palace for a Chinese banquet.
